NBC news has hired the late Tim Russert’s son to cover the Democratic and Republican conventions. The 22-year-old recently graduated from Boston College.

Luke Russert formerly hosted a sports talk show on XM satellite radio with political expert James Carvell.

Former Dallas Cowboys receiver and ESPN host Michael Irvin is joining The NFL Network as a commentator. The hiring was recently reported in an article by USA Today media columnist Michael Hiestand.

Irvin was fired by ESPN in early 2007.

COURT NIXES FCC FINE OVER JANET JACKSON WARDROBE MALFUNCTION

A federal court today tossed out the $550,000 fine the FCC issued against CBS for the 2004 “wardrobe malfunction” of Janet Jackson at her halftime Super Bowl show.

The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the FCC acted “arbitrarily and capriciously” in fining CBS.
