STEROID SCANDAL IN OLYMPIC RACE WALKING?

August 19, 2008

How pervasive is the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs at the Olympics?

Let’s put it this way, even the Olympic WALKERS cheat.

The website Steroid Nation has the story about a possible Beijing scandal surfacing in the sport of race walking. Apparently the Russians were forced to leave their entire team of walkers behind due to ALL OF THEM having positive doping tests.

Despite having tested poitive for the drug EPO just weeks before, one Russian flew to Beijing to compete in the Olympics. Valeriy Borchin “walked away” with a gold medal.

An English paper is calling Borchin’s gold medal “a mockery.”

DISGRACED SPRINTER BEN JOHNSON CALLS HIMSELF “INTELLECTUALLY RETARDED”

FORMER OLYMPIC SPRINTER BEN JOHNSON AND HIS DEAD LAWYER

Former Olympic sprinter Ben Johnson is suing the estate of his late lawyer for $37 million.

Johnson was a Canadian Olympic sprinter and formerly The World’s Fastest Man. He was one of the first major athletes to be involved in a steroids scandal. In 1988 Johnson was kicked out of the Olympics and stripped of all his medals and records.

The lawsuit contends attorney Ed Futterman took advantage of Johnson. The suit also contends Johnson was incapable of understanding complex legal documents. Johnson’s own lawsuit contends, psychiatric experts concluded in 1989 that “there is overwhelming evidence that Mr. Johnson is intellectually retarded.”

Johnson is actually the second athlete to play the “retard” card. In 2000 former Los Angeles Dodgers star Pedro Guerrero was acquitted on drug charges after his lawyer convinced a Forida jury that he was too stupid to be a drug dealer. The attorney argued on record that Guerrero was a sixth grade dropout with an IQ of 70. The lawyer said since Guerrero was unable to perform simple tasks like being able to write a check or make a bed there was no way he could have dealt drugs. The jury bought it and found Guerrero innocent on all charges.

SPANISH OLYMPIC OFFICIAL HANGS HEAD IN SHAME AFTER POSITIVE DRUG TEST OF CYCLIST

So far the Olympics have been a huge success both in terms of tv ratings and ad revenues. More than that, this Olympiad has been creating a buzz. This has arguably been the most watched and most TALKED ABOUT Olympics in history.

Nobody likes a downer, but amidst all of the success and fervor we have the first drug scandal of the Olympics. It has been all but ignored.

Cyclist Maria Moreno of Spain has been sent packing by the IOC following a positive drug test. A cyclist testing positive for a banned substance isn’t exactly big news. This is: The president of the World Anti-Doping Agency has told the Associated Press that cheating and drug use is so pervasive in cycling and weight lifting that the Olympics are considering dropping both sports.

That’s right, cycling and weight lifting face expulsion from the Olympics because virtually ALL of their athletes cheat and use illegal drugs.

Take that Lance Armstrong.

SCIENTISTS DISCOVER URINE TEST FOR HGH

July 23, 2008

The USA Today is reporting that scientists have discovered a urine test that is able to detect human growth hormone. The test is a possible breakthrough in discovering performance enhancing drugs throughout the athletic world.

The article says the test could be on the market in six months. Pro sports leagues and international governing bodies have been searching for a noninvasive way of testing for HGH for years.

BUSTED! ROGER CLEMENS RECEIVED HGH IN THE MAIL

July 16, 2008

PERJURER AND DEFILER OF 15-YEAR-OLD GIRLS “MR. CLEMENS” TESTIFIES BEFORE CONGRESS

Today’s New York Daily News has a story that blows pitcher Roger Clemens and the chance that he WASN’T lying to Congress pretty much out of the water.

Confessed steroid dealer Kirk Radowski has reportedly provided the government with proof that he shipped HGH to the house of the former MLB pitcher. While testifying before Congress, Clemens earlier this year denied UNDER OATH that he ever used performance enhancing drugs.

Radowski, who received probation after cooperating with MLB and the Feds, produced shipping invoices for two orders of HGH that he sent to Clemens’ house in Clemens’ name. Radowski’s records and testimony back up former trainer Brian McNamee and his contention that Clemens used illegal performance enhancing drugs.

DNA test results on used needles and other steroid items used by Clemens also will reportedly implicate the pitcher and subject him to possible charges of perjury and lying to Congress.

Radomski says he found the shipping invoice recently under a broken tv.

E-MAILS TO McNAMEE REVEAL CLEMENS CAN’T SPELL THE WORD “DOUCHEBAG”

ROGER CLEMENS

The Smoking Gun has obtained copies of several e-mails exchanged between former pitcher Roger Clemens and his onetime-personal-trainer-turned-government-informer, Brian McNamee.

The e-mails don’t reveal much, other than Clemens is a really bad speller:

BRIEF CLAIMS STEROID SYRINGE TESTS POSITIVE FOR ROGER CLEMENS’ DNA

July 3, 2008

ROGER CLEMENS

The lawyers of Brian McNamee say steroid syringes and other items the personal trainer gave to the Feds will test positive for pitcher Roger Clemens’ DNA. The attorneys made the claim in a brief filed in court today.

The lawyers are trying to get Clemens’ defamation lawsuit against McNamee thrown out of court. They claim once the results of the DNA tests are revealed they will prove their client is innocent. Clemens gave federal investigators bloody syringes and gauze that he claims Roger Clemens used to shoot up with illegal steroids. Here’s an actual picture of the syringes and other items that was submitted to Congress:

There was one other interesting item in today’s brief. The attorneys claim McNamee is suffering extreme financial “distress” since he testified against Clemens. From January through June of 2008, McNamee, the one-time personal trainer to the stars, earned a reported TOTAL of $3,000 in income.

DID STEROIDS KILL HEATH BENEDICT?

June 22, 2008

HEATH BENEDICT

Offensive lineman and small college hero Heath Benedict died this spring just weeks before he would have been taken in the NFL draft. Now a newspaper report says steroids may have played a major role in Benedict’s death.

This blog received criticism back in April for even raising the POSSIBILITY that steroids may have been involved in Benedict’s death. The medical examiner’s report says Benedict died on a couch in Jacksonville, Florida. A syringe was found next to Benedict’s body along with two vials of liquid. According to the newspaper report, one of the vials contained anabolic steroids. The other vial contained a liquid form of viagra. A story in the New York Daily News last week said an increasing number of athletes were using Viagra as a performance enhancing drug.

The official cause of Benedict’s death is listed as cardiac hypertrophy (an enlarged heart.) Possible side effects of steroid and HGH use include an enlarged heart and irregular heartbeat.

76-YEAR-OLD GRANDFATHER ARRESTED FOR DEALING STEROIDS

June 13, 2008

76 AND STILL DEALIN

From the Orange County Register comes the story of a 76-year-old man arrested for dealing steroids.

Police had information that someone was dealing anabolic steroids at local gyms in Cyprus, CA. On a tip, they raided the home of the 76-year-old grandfather. Police found thousands of doses of illegal steroids along with packaging materials and hypodermic needles. They also found steroid literature and detailed business receipts
