The story of the JonBenet Ramsey murder case is one of the sickest in history. In 1996 the six-year-old girl was raped and murdered in Boulder, Colorado. Ramsey’s parents were suspects in the case for years. Entering a young child in beauty contests may have made them questionable parents but it does not mean they were murderers.

Now, prosecutors say new DNA tests have cleared JonBenet’s family in her 1996 slaying. The Boulder DA’s office even issued a formal apology to the family after a new technology found DNA of an unknown man at the Ramsey crime scene. Said Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy,

“To the extent that we may have contributed in any way to the public perception that you might have been involved in this crime, I am deeply sorry.”

Too little too late. Patsey Ramsey died before her name was cleared and by focusing on the Ramsey family for so long Boulder authorities allowed the real killer to go free. Shame on them.

Boulder authorities even implied that Ramsey’s brother may have been involved in her death. He was 9-years-old at the time of the murder. Even in death JonBenet had stalkers. Twisted school teacher John Mark Karr “confessed” to the murder in 2006. Further investigation showed he was mentally unbalanced and had nothing to do with Ramsey’s death.

  1. David Chalcraft Says:

DNA did not clear the Ramsey family. Mary Lacy ‘cleared’ the Ramsey family based on redundant evidence, more of the same DNA found on clothes Jonbenet was wearing the night she was murdered. This does not erase the analysis of the ransom note that indicates it was dictated by a man to woman, the absurdity of the idea that Patsy Ramsey got up and put on the same clothes the next morning, the fact that the Ramseys ignored the threat in the ransom note that Jonbenet would be killed if they notified the police or others, the fact that they lied about their son’s whereabouts at the time of the 911 call, the fact that they refused a lie detector test, or any of the other inconsistencies in the case. Why didn’t they clear the Ramseys when the DNA was first tested in 1996? Because it wasn’t convincing in light of the other inconsistencies. Suddenly, in 2008, it is? Geraldo owes no apology, as there is no proof the Ramseys are innocent.
