WHAT NEWS ORGANIZATION BROKE THE STORY OF TIM RUSSERT’S DEATH?

TIM RUSSERT?

Which news organization was the first to report the death of tv broadcaster and Meet the Press host Tim Russert last week?

I’ll give you a hint. It wasn’t Russert’s employer, NBC.

Would you believe Wikipedia.com ?

Hours before any major network or cable outlet reported Russert’s death, Wikipedia edited its online entry. NBC first came on the air to officially announce Russert’s passing at 3:39 p.m. (some four hours after his death.) Former anchor Tom Brokaw delivered the news because NBC’s current anchorman, Brian Williams, was in Afghanistan.

In fairness, NBC waited to inform Russert’s family (they were vacationing in Italy) before announcing his death.
