The Los Angeles Dodgers have announced the recall of 20-year-old left-handed pitcher, Clayton Kershaw, from Double-A Jacksonville. Kershaw will start against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.

Kershaw had a 2.28 ERA, 47 strikeouts, and allowed just 32 hits in 43 1/3 innings this season. He was the Dodgers first round pick in the 2006 draft.

Kershaw nearly made the Dodgers opening day roster out of spring training. After allowing a home run to the first batter he faced in the Grapefruit League, Kershaw pitched brilliantly for the Dodgers. Following the home run he gave up, Kershaw didn’t allow another run in 14 innings, striking out 19 with three walks.
