CHEAP BEER AT THE OLYMPICS

August 16, 2008

From AOL Fanhouse:

AOL blogger Enrico Campitelli Jr. has engaged in fine piece of hands-on investigative journalism.

Campitelli was able to buy SIX cups of Budweiser and two ice creams at the Olympic track and field events last night for a total of $5.75 (that’s right: all that for under six bucks.)

Prices are supposedly incredibly reasonable in China. NBC recently ran a story that an Olympic package including a roundtrip flight and week’s hotel stay cost about $950.

THIRD FAKING SCANDAL HITS CHINA AT OLYMPICS

56 CHILDREN AT OLYMPIC OPENING CEREMONIES REPRESENTING THE 56 ETHNIC GROUPS IN CHINA

Yet another incident of fakery has been discovered from the Olympic opening ceremonies in China. This is the THIRD incident where the Chinese government was found to fake part of the opening ceremony festivities. First was the fake fireworks. Then the lip syncing switch of little girls during the national anthem.

Now it turns out that a skit designed to highlight China’s ethnic diversity was a fraud. And once again it involves children. The skit featured 56 children each representing a different ethnic group in China. The mini-play was designed to represent harmony among China’s various ethnic minority populations.

One problem. ALL 56 children were from just ONE ethnic group. They were apparently all from the Han population which happens to be the ethnic majority in China. Ninety percent of the Chinese are Hans.

OLYMPIC CONTROVERSY: SWEDISH WRESTLER THROWS MEDAL AWAY IN DISGUST

August 14, 2008

SWEDISH WRESTLER ARA ABRAHAMIAN

A Swedish wrestler, angered about a scoring decision by Olympic judges, stormed off the medal podium in Beijing today flinging his bronze medal to the ground.

Ara Abrahamian lost a controversial decision to an Italian in the 84 kg greco-roman wrestling competition. Following the decision, Abrahamian stormed the judges table and had to be restrained by teammates. Abrahamian ended up winning a bronze medal. After the competition, the Swedish wrestler actually took the medal off his neck and threw it to the mat before exiting the stadium in disgust.

Sweden’s coach called the decision to award Abrahamian’s opponent the match “politics.” Swedish fans actually booed the judges as they left the arena.

Interviewed later in the day, Abrahamian said he would quit the sport following the incident.

CHICOMS HATE UGLY CHILDREN

August 12, 2008

CUTE LITTLE GIRL ON LEFT REPLACED UGLY KID ON RIGHT FOR OLYMPIC OPENING CEREMONIES IN CHINA

Anyone who watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympics over the weekend will undoubtedly remember the adorable little girl who sang the Chinese anthem. However, just like the fake fireworks, the child has been discovered to be a fraud.

It turns out 9-year-old Lin Miaoke wasn’t actually singing. She was lip syncing. Not only that, but the little girl wasn’t even lip syncing her own song. The real singer was deemed by the Chinese government as being too ugly to perform at the opening ceremonies.

Damn commies! They used the first little girl to record the song then trotted out the cuter kid to perform for the world.

FIRST DRUG SCANDAL OF THE OLYMPICS

SPANISH OLYMPIC OFFICIAL HANGS HEAD IN SHAME AFTER POSITIVE DRUG TEST OF CYCLIST

So far the Olympics have been a huge success both in terms of tv ratings and ad revenues. More than that, this Olympiad has been creating a buzz. This has arguably been the most watched and most TALKED ABOUT Olympics in history.

Nobody likes a downer, but amidst all of the success and fervor we have the first drug scandal of the Olympics. It has been all but ignored.

Cyclist Maria Moreno of Spain has been sent packing by the IOC following a positive drug test. A cyclist testing positive for a banned substance isn’t exactly big news. This is: The president of the World Anti-Doping Agency has told the Associated Press that cheating and drug use is so pervasive in cycling and weight lifting that the Olympics are considering dropping both sports.

That’s right, cycling and weight lifting face expulsion from the Olympics because virtually ALL of their athletes cheat and use illegal drugs.

Take that Lance Armstrong.

SEAL PENIS, ANYONE?

August 2, 2008

Dog is officially off the menu for journalists and athletes travelling to China for the Olympics.

CAGED DOGS ARE SOLD FOR MEAT IN BEIJING (THESE GUYS ARE NOW IN DOGGY HEAVEN: THIS IS AN ACTUAL PHOTO FROM BEIJING TAKEN IN 2006)

That doesn’t mean there still aren’t some rather exotic dishes for the adventurous foreign diner. Earlier, we brought you the scorpion-on-a-stick story.

However, the Beijing dish that is undoubtedly receiving the most media attention is SEAL PENIS.

HOW ABOUT A HEAPING DISH OF SEAL PENIS?

If you’re interested, Beijing’s first specialty penis restaurant is still taking reservations. The concept of penis cousine started with one restaurant three years ago in Beijing. The Guolizhuang penis restaurant was an instant hit.  It was such a success that it’s now a chain with FIVE franchises.

Mmmmmmmmm, seal penis!
